OM Unit PMC at the Forefront of Global Integrity Initiatives
Strengthening global sports integrity through collaboration, innovation, and action – highlights from the Olympic Movement (OM) Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (PMC)’s engagement across key international forums.
UEFA Integrity Workshop & Working Group
The OM Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions (PMC) participated in the UEFA Integrity Officers Forum held in Ljubljana, Slovenia, on 17 and 18 March 2026, bringing together integrity professionals from all 55 UEFA member associations and key international partners to intensify the efforts made against match-fixing.
During the forum, the Unit contributed to a breakout session on gambling harm, presenting preliminary findings from the joint UEFA-IOC study and supporting the development of a stronger evidence base for policy action.
The IOC also joined the Integrity Fair, hosting a booth with UNODC to highlight international cooperation and showcase resources available to sports organisations.
This engagement further demonstrated the strong collaboration between UEFA and the IOC, underlining a shared commitment to coordinated action to protect the integrity of sport. Finally, the OM Unit PMC also attended the dedicated UEFA Working Group on Anti-Match-Fixing on 18 and 19 March, providing insights and experiences on the intelligence of the Games.
IAGA Gaming Summit
The 2026 International Gaming Summit, held from 2 to 4 June, brought together leading stakeholders to discuss key developments in global gaming, including the rapid expansion of sports betting and evolving regulatory frameworks.
Within this context, the OM Unit PMC moderated a panel alongside representatives from Ernst & Young, the NFL, FanDuel and Sportradar. Drawing on the Milano Cortina 2026 assessment and looking ahead to LA28, discussions focused on education, cooperation, and preparedness, while also exploring the complexities of establishing an operational integrity framework for prediction markets.
ADM Conference in Italy
The OM Unit PMC participated in a panel discussion on match-fixing at the ADM Stati Generali, held on 21 May 2026, within the session on betting titled “Match-fixing and fraud management: countering the manipulation of events linked to sports betting – the role of artificial intelligence.”
The event brought together stakeholders from the Italian gambling regulatory authority (ADM) and the wider sector, providing a valuable platform for exchange on emerging risks and prevention strategies.
The participation of the Unit provided those attending with the Olympic Movement perspective and experience, calling for enhanced cooperation between the sports movement and the local authorities and betting sector, especially on the matter of sharing betting-related information to facilitate the implementation of the Code PMC and prevent potential breaches.
FIFA Global Integrity Programme
The OM Unit PMC also contributed to the second edition of the FIFA Global Integrity Programme on 6 March 2026. This new edition, developed in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), builds on the previous iteration by offering specialised training and practical resources directly to Integrity Officers of FIFA Member Associations. The programme aims to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively combat match manipulation.
As part of this contribution, the OM Unit PMC delivered an interactive, hands-on presentation on education strategies for integrity frameworks related to match manipulation.
EL-WLA-ULIS seminar
The OM Unit PMC also attended a lottery sports betting-sports integrity seminar organised on 25 and 26 June at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The OM Unit PMC was also part of a panel on sports integrity, together with UEFA, FIFA and INTERPOL. The OM Unit PMC addressed the audience, which was mainly formed of lotteries across the globe, and underlined the importance of prevention and awareness-raising within the wider fight against competition manipulation.
