Tin Sum Lee
Tin Sum Lee is a media professional with experience at the United Nations, Hong Kong’s TV and radio, and Olympic Broadcasting Services at Paris 2024. She has been recognised as one of Hong Kong’s Top 10 Outstanding Youth.
Once a dedicated volleyball player, she turned to cycling and long-distance hiking after an injury, completing journeys through Taiwan, the Camino de Santiago and the US. She is passionate about harnessing the power of sport and storytelling to address social challenges and inspire positive change.
178 Youth empowers young people in Hong Kong through the transformative challenge of a 178km thru-hike and the creation of a documentary. By embedding this journey as an annual tradition for schools and sports institutions, the initiative fosters resilience, teamwork, and a culture of “sport for all”.
To address rising youth suicide rates, the project will also launch the Society Sport Mental Health Ambassadors programme. Forty young people will be trained in sports leadership and Mental Health First Aid, culminating in a 100km fundraising hike. Proceeds will provide professional psychological support for future cohorts, while alumni return as peer mentors.
By combining outdoor adventure, education, and mental health advocacy, 178 Youth equips Hong Kong’s next generation with tools for well-being, confidence and community leadership.
