IOC Young Leader Bio:
Nicolò Di Tullio is passionate about learning, sharing and exploring the social impact of science and technology on society. He collaborates with sports organisations and academic institutions on sport sciences and development, with a particular focus on environmental issues.
An avid water and surf sports enthusiast, Nicolò has developed strong expertise in marine environments and coastal zone management, which he now combines with his commitment to sport for development and sustainability.
Project: GotTo
GotTo is a citizen science initiative that equips athletes and sports communities with tools to collect environmental data while practising their sports. By channelling this data to researchers, the project helps build knowledge about climate change and supports evidence-based policymaking.
Collaborating with academic institutions, sports clubs and amateur practitioners, GotTo empowers participants to play an active role in conservation. The project has developed an online platform and educational resources that raise awareness, encourage behaviour change and inspire collective responsibility for safeguarding marine and outdoor environments.
By combining sport, science and community engagement, GotTo shows how athletes and everyday sportspeople can contribute to climate action while strengthening their connection to nature.
