Martin Johansen Skjulhaug
Martin Brueckner Johansen is a former elite track-and-field athlete who has turned his passion toward coaching and leadership. After completing his Master’s degree in Elite Sport and spending eight months gaining new experiences in Greenland, he has now settled in Oslo, Norway, where he works as the Sporting Director of one of the country’s largest athletics clubs.
Drawing from his academic background and diverse sporting experiences, Martin is motivated to create change through sport by tackling the gender imbalance in athletics coaching. As a social entrepreneur, he founded CoachEquity, a mentoring and networking initiative designed to support and empower female coaches across Scandinavia, building a pathway for diversity and inclusion in the sport.
CoachEquity is a pioneering initiative working to reduce gender inequality in athletics coaching. It provides a collaborative online network where female coaches can share experiences, learn from one another, and find mentorship opportunities across disciplines and countries. The project combines virtual meetings with knowledge-sharing and community-building to strengthen both grassroots and high-performance coaching.
Launched in early 2025, CoachEquity aims to start with 20 coaches from Norway and Denmark, ranging from youth-level trainers to Olympic-level professionals, and expand its reach year by year to become a leading platform for diversity and inclusion in coaching.
