Jabu Mtwa
Jabu Mtwa is a South African sports entrepreneur and one of the youngest football club owners in Africa, having co-founded Golden City Football Club in 2022 at the age of 20. He is the Executive Producer and Co-host of Africa Business of Sport Podcast, Africa’s leading sports business podcast, and has spoken at high-profile conferences such as the World Football Summit Africa.
In October 2022, Jabu co-authored the widely cited research paper Making African Women’s Football Truly Globally Competitive, focused on the commercialisation and development of women’s football in Africa. A 2025 honouree on the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans list, he continues to advocate for sport-driven solutions to the continent’s youth unemployment crisis.
Ithuba Lethu Sports Hub (“Ithuba Lethu” meaning our opportunity) is a youth-led non-profit organisation dedicated to tackling youth unemployment in Africa by leveraging the continent’s rapidly growing sports sector. The initiative empowers young people aged 16–30 with skills, mentorship and career opportunities through education and capacity-building programmes.
Activities include job-readiness workshops, volunteer placements at sports conferences and events, career counselling and partnerships with educational institutions and employers. After a highly anticipated launch in 2025, the project has partnered with Young African Leaders in Sport and Champs for Change.
By positioning sport as a driver of employability, Ithuba Lethu is creating pathways to education, work and empowerment for Africa’s youth.
