Gifty Appiah
Gifty Appiah is currently pursuing a Master’s in Governance and Administration of Leisure and Sport through the Erasmus Mundus Mobility programme, while interning at the Greater Accra Regional Football Association. She is passionate about using sport as a tool for education, empowerment and social change, with a focus on improving opportunities for young girls from underserved communities in Ghana.
Her work is particularly dedicated to supporting girls who migrate from the north of the country to the south in search of better opportunities, helping them access formal education and safe, inclusive spaces through sport.
RightSet Ghana is a non-profit sport-for-development organisation that provides education, life skills and empowerment for young girls from deprived communities through sport. By combining academic support with activities such as tennis, taekwondo, and rugby, the initiative creates safe spaces for girls to learn, play and grow.
The programme also offers self-defence training to prevent sexual abuse, while addressing issues such as teenage pregnancy and school dropouts. By equipping girls with knowledge, skills and confidence, RightSet Ghana strengthens their ability to pursue education and improved livelihoods, while promoting gender equality and social inclusion.
