Project: Project Strijder

Project Strijder is dedicated to bridging the gap in sport for marginalised youth in the Netherlands. Rising costs mean only 22% of children from low-income families participate in sports, compared to 43% from wealthier backgrounds – a disparity that limits physical development, confidence and life-skills growth.

Through fully funded athletics programmes, the initiative provides foundational training for youngsters aged 12-14 and advanced mentorship for those aged 15-18. Beyond sport, Project Strijder integrates educational support and donates sports equipment, ensuring every participant can thrive. Currently in its research phase, it engages local communities to identify root challenges and co-design sustainable solutions.

By making athletics more accessible and inclusive, Project Strijder empowers youth to reach their potential and promotes equality across communities.
