IOC Young Leader Bio:
An IOC Young Leader from 2021 to 2024, Adriana Escobar is a dedicated Early Childhood Educator and national rower with over a decade of experience in the sport. She channels the inspiration she draws from rowing into her work advocating for athletes and fostering sports development for young girls and children.
During her term, Adriana pursued a Master’s in Olympic Studies, Olympic Education, and the Organisation and Administration of Olympic Events, exploring how the Olympic values can be integrated into the wider education field to inspire both athletes and non-athletes.
Project: Amelia’s Street
During her term, Adriana created Amelia’s Street to address the decline in girls’ participation in sport and education in El Salvador. The initiative empowers girls aged 7-12 in Santa Tecla through three pillars: a fictional character with her own book, an educational manual, and a curriculum for leading girls’ clubs.
By showcasing local female athletes and embedding the Olympic values, Amelia’s Street provided girls with a safe and inspiring space to discover sport, boost self-esteem, and strengthen both academic and social engagement. Teachers and coaches guided its use, ensuring an integral learning experience that combined sport, education and empowerment.
