07 September 2026 - Eighteen schools have been recently selected to take part in the third season of the “Olympians in Schools with Rimi” programme. The selection was made by Olympic and Paralympic athletes, together with experts from the Latvian company Rimi during a celebratory event held at the “Rimi Gardēži” kitchens. Out of 265 applicant schools, the winners were chosen to visit regional Olympic Centres in autumn 2026 and learn about healthy, active living in person. The project is being implemented by the LOK with the support of "Rimi Latvia" and Olympic Solidarity. The project maintains its core objective - to inspire youngsters in grades 5-8 towards a more physically active lifestyle, balanced nutrition and quality daily routine, supporting the LOK's Vision 2030 to increase the proportion of regularly active people in society to 50%. The project also proved its effectiveness in the 2025/2026 academic year, when 24 schools participated across two seasons and 2,685 youngsters were reached. In the 2026/2027 academic year, the scope will be expanded, planning to reach up to 3,500 students in person. Details here.
