Built for the basketball competitions at Beijing 2008, the Wukesong Sports Centre has several resident sports teams, among them the Beijing Shougang Ducks, who play in the North Division of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). The centre hosts more than 100 sports and cultural events per year, including CBA all-star games, the NBA China Games, motorcycling and ice sports events, and concerts by world-renowned artists. It is also used for conferences and business events.

The Wukesong Sports Centre staged some of the men’s ice hockey matches at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 and most of the women’s, including the gold medal match. The process of converting the venue from a basketball to an ice hockey arena takes only six hours, an indication of its versatility.  
   
Now privately run and known as the Cadillac Arena, the 18,000-capacity centre is one of the most financially profitable Beijing 2008 venues, having successfully negotiated multiple sponsorship deals.
