Seven Interested Parties for the 2036 Olympic Games confirmed
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reconfirmed the list of Interested Parties with a declared interest in hosting the 2036 Olympic Games.
As part of the transparency of the host selection process as approved by the IOC Session in June, the names of these Interested Parties were made public by the IOC on 6 October.
The IOC also set a deadline for any other National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to enter discussions in relation to the 2036 edition. This period has now come to an end, and no additional Interested Party has come forward.
The seven NOCs that will be considered by the IOC as potential hosts of the 2036 Olympics are, in alphabetical order: Germany, Hungary, India, Qatar, Republic of Korea, South Africa and Türkiye.
IOC Member Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Chair of the IOC’s Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad, said: “This will be the first edition of the Olympic Games to be elected under the Fit for the Future changes. The strong interest in hosting the 2036 Olympics shows that countries across the world recognise the enduring social and economic value the Games can have for local communities. We will continue to work closely with all seven Interested Parties to support them in developing their projects.”
