Key Facts

  • Approximately EUR 2.4 billion in procurement opportunities will be generated by the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2030.
  • More than 50 per cent of contracts will be allocated to small and medium-sized businesses.
  • A dedicated platform, “Marchés 2030”, has been launched to centralise and facilitate access to public contracts for businesses across France.

Supported by the French government and the host regions of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the “Meet the Buyers” event was aimed at informing and engaging businesses on procurement opportunities linked to the delivery of the Games.

The French Alps 2030 project represents a significant economic opportunity for the host territories and beyond. Approximately EUR 2.4 billion in procurement will be undertaken between the OCOG and Solideo, with the Organising Committee aiming to allocate more than 50 per cent of its contracts to small and medium-sized enterprises.

The two host regions also presented their support programmes to help companies position themselves for calls to tender.

We have chosen a rigorous strategy that fully integrates social and environmental considerations, in order to deliver Games that are useful, sustainable and firmly rooted in local communities.

The event provided detailed information on procurement strategies, including responsible purchasing principles, upcoming tender timelines and sourcing methodologies. Particular emphasis was placed on sustainability and social impact, with those aspects accounting for at least 20 per cent of tender evaluation criteria.

On this point, Solideo Alpes 2030 Chief Executive Officer Damien Robert stated:

“At Solideo Alpes 2030, alongside the other delegated contracting authorities, we are mobilising economic stakeholders to make the preparation of the Games’ infrastructure a driver of innovation and development, with the ambition of leaving a lasting legacy for the territories.”

A key moment during the event was the unveiling of the “Marchés 2030” platform - a single access point for all procurement opportunities related to the Games. The platform is aimed at ensuring transparency and facilitating access for businesses throughout the country, supporting inclusive economic participation.

Key principles of the Impact Procurement Strategy

To achieve its goal of delivering sustainable and low-impact Games, the OCOG is placing its procurement strategy at the core of its approach. Its impact-driven procurement policy is built around three key principles, each supported by concrete commitments that suppliers will be required to meet.

  1. Environmental sustainability: Reduce carbon footprint and resource use by prioritising eco-friendly solutions, reuse and strict environmental standards.
  2. Social inclusion: Create opportunities for disadvantaged groups, support fair working conditions and promote inclusive employment through procurement.
  3. Local development: Strengthen regional economies by encouraging local sourcing, partnerships with SMEs and long-term job and skills creation.

Building on Paris 2024 legacy

French Alps 2030 and Solideo Alpes 2030 are partnering with La Fabrique des Marchés Responsables - an initiative put in place by the Les Canaux association for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games - to advance their social and environmental ambitions.

This partnership focuses on mobilising organisations from the social and solidarity economy (SSE) during the bidding phase of procurement, providing tailored information, preparation programmes and targeted communication. Building on the experience of the Paris 2024 Games’ SSE 2024 initiative, the programme leverages regional SSE structures to promote local, circular and solidarity-based economic development, helping to extend the legacy of the Paris 2024 while supporting sustainable and inclusive opportunities for French Alps 2030.

Charter signature

French Alps 2030 also signed the Responsible Supplier Relations and Purchasing Charter. This important step reinforces standards of integrity, transparency and quality in supplier relationships, in accordance with ISO 20400 guidelines.
