The activities, which took place across Alibaba offices on 23 June, support this year's Olympic Day theme, "You Can Do This! Let's Move.", which aims to help young people overcome self-doubt and build confidence through movement and sport.

As part of the celebrations, Alibaba also launched its first Alibaba Sports Day, a new annual initiative designed to bring employees together through sport and physical activity.

At Alibaba's headquarters in Hangzhou, China, employees participated in a 3.5-kilometre mini marathon and competed in the finals of the Alibaba Football Tournament, alongside a friendly basketball match. Across the company's offices worldwide, colleagues took part in a variety of localised activities, including office balloon volleyball, chopstick shuttlecock challenges, wushu pose-offs, planks and vertical jumps.

Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai said the initiative reflected the company's belief in the positive role sport can play in people's lives.

The beauty of sport goes beyond the championship trophy; it's about the resilience and drive to push forward against any challenge. Today, in celebration of Olympic Day, we are proud to launch the first-ever Alibaba Sports Day. We hope to inspire everyone to move from the sidelines and become the main characters of their own healthy lives.

Olympic Day is celebrated each year on 23 June to commemorate the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894. Originally launched by the IOC and the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2023, Let's Move has since grown into a year-round campaign encouraging people to be active through sport and movement.

Since becoming a Worldwide Olympic Partner in 2017, Alibaba has supported the digital transformation of the Olympic Games through cloud computing and artificial intelligence technologies. The company is also supporting preparations for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, helping to develop new digital solutions for athletes, organisers and fans.
