Apprenticeships and traineeships

At the International Olympic Committee, we believe in nurturing talent through meaningful and hands-on traineeship and apprenticeship experiences.

Traineeships at the IOC

We offer a wide variety of traineeship opportunities in multiple departments across the organisation: Olympic Games, Legal Affairs, Sports, Communications, HR, Corporate Events, IT and many more. These usually last 12 months and allow bachelor’s and master’s degree graduates to enter the working world with an opportunity to learn and grow within their respective fields. As an IOC trainee, your manager and team will be there to support your development by setting clear objectives for the duration of your traineeship.

What they said about their experience

Charlene, Administrative Assistant

"I began my journey at the IOC as an Internal Communications Trainee, driven by my passion for the Olympic Games and inspired by the Olympic values. From the very beginning, I was welcomed by passionate, dedicated colleagues and fellow trainees who made me feel part of the team. The experience was not only professionally enriching but also personally inspiring. What started as a learning opportunity quickly became a place where I could grow, contribute meaningfully and feel truly connected to the Olympic Movement. I'm proud to still be here, continuing that journey every day."

Flavien, Public Affairs Trainee

"After watching the Olympic Games from a young age, working at the IOC is fascinating. I get to see how the Olympic Movement connects people and countries beyond the Games, using sport as a common language. I really enjoy being part of such a multicultural environment and having the chance to work alongside so many athletes and people who are truly passionate about sport."

Emiliana, Rights Activation Trainee

"At the International Olympic Committee, being a trainee means learning to be comfortable with the unfamiliar. Each project brings new challenges and perspectives, shaped by a truly global team. You’re given real responsibility from the start, encouraged to take the initiative, and supported as you push beyond your comfort zone. It’s an environment that values curiosity and courage as much as collaboration, and every day reminds you why sport has the power to bring people together."

Apprenticeships at the IOC

Rooted in Switzerland’s renowned dual education system, our apprenticeships combine hands-on experience with formal education, leading to recognised qualifications such as the Federal Vocational Certificate (AFP) or the Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC).

They are fully integrated into IOC teams across a wide range of fields, from administration and finance to culinary arts, information technology and information management. Throughout their journey, apprentices benefit from the guidance of dedicated trainers and the support of their teams, allowing them to develop both professionally and personally. Whether through traditional multi-year programmes or the simplified pathway for experienced professionals, the IOC is committed to empowering the next generation with the skills, confidence and independence they need to succeed in their careers.
